A photographic journal detailing our 2013 trip to the USA to undertake the John Muir Trail, a self-supported trek across the High Sierra.
227 miles in the High Sierra wilderness
As the days passed my anticipation grew. Sitting in my local pub garden on a sunny summers evening I had just come off the phone from Chris and Luke, who were half way round the world in San Francisco airport eating breakfast.
Their adventure had already begun, for me one more day of waiting to endure. For all three of us a 16-year long dream was about to be realised. After years of planning, persuading, preparing and training Chris Duke, Luke Gander and myself were finally undertaking our pilgrimage to the breath-taking High Sierra Mountain range of California to thru-hike one of the world’s most famous long distance trails – The John Muir Trail.
This is a day-by-day account of how we fared. The literal and mental ups and downs, the people we met, the pain we went through, the beauty of the landscape and above all the sheer delight of taking on what has been a lifelong dream.

The Hellingen CC project started life as a bit of fun for a group of friends (of which I am one) passionate about cycling into something far larger. The initial identity and brand development project and has now evolved into a full large-scale kit production run and e-commerce website.
Flanders inspired. Sussex designed. Italian made.
Hellingen CC is the result of a jaunt across The Channel to partake in the Ronde Van Vlaanderen Cyclo Sportive in 2015. In particularly brutal cold, windy and wet conditions (the pro's had it easy the following day in bright sunshine and warm, dry conditions) we navigated ourselves around Flanders taking in the infamous bergs, oh so many bergs. Hours later our weary bodies made it to the finish line in Oudenaarde. At the time it was undoubtedly the hardest ride I had experienced.
This kit is our homage to the region, it's wonderful culture of cycling and the many cyclists that find joy in conquering the Hellingen.

Martin & the Magpie
Unused brand identity concept created for the rebranding of Hungerford shop Martin and the Magpie.
Martin and the Magpie in Hungerford is a haven of all things, green, trendy, bright and unusual for flower lovers and houseplant addicts alike.
My Dutch roots mean I have a natural love for plants and flowers, so it was a logical step to train as a florist. I like to keep things seasonal, but I always try and find rare and different flowers and plants you don't normally come across everyday.
The shop is an ever changing collection of glass and ceramic pots, macrame hangers, candles and cards which makes choosing gifts a real pleasure.
If ever there was an excuse for a little brand identity to be developed, then this was it.

Originally designed as an identity for a successful attempt at the Welsh 3000’s challenge. In order to complete the Welsh 3000s Challenge you are required to have been at the top of all 15 of the mountains over 3000 ft in Wales within the space of 24 hours, without using any form of transport.
The length is about 24 miles, but the walks to the start point and down from the finish point can take it to over 30 miles in total.
Since the Welsh 3000’s the PEAK brand has remained and has been repurposed for subsequent challenges.
